Women's Road Cycling Shorts & Bib Shorts

Speed, stability, and comfort that goes the distance. Our women's road cycling shorts and supportive bib shorts pair compressive fabrics with women-specific chamois designs: padding where it matters and zero bulk where it doesn't. Built to disappear under pressure so you can lock into the effort.

Shorts vs. Bibs

Shorts: classic waistband for quick on and off, commuting, and indoor sessions.

Bib shorts: over-shoulder straps remove the waistband, keep the pad centered, and boost all-day comfort on long road efforts. Look for drop-tail or convertible designs if easy bathroom stops matter.

Which Chamois?

SELECT Levitate™: the everyday comfort tier, for rides up to a couple of hours.

ELITE Levitate™: dual-density, built for high-mileage training blocks.

PRO Levitate™: triple-density with a 1:1® Boundary Layer top sheet and Infinite Edge™ transitions, for race pace and endurance days.

Minimal Chamois: the lightest padding, for short rides and liner shorts.

Chamois Tech That Works

Women-specific pads are shaped for women's anatomy and support sit-bone pressure zones, manage moisture, and reduce friction at high cadence. The Levitate™ platform uses a Suspension Core™ foam structure, a 1:1® Boundary Layer top sheet, and Infinite Edge™ tapered transitions so the pad has no hard lines to feel. New to pads? Start with the Chamois Guide and the Shorts & Bibs Guide.

Which Tier?

Quest: the comfortable everyday option, with a more forgiving fit.

Attack: a closer race-ready cut with lighter fabric for hard training. Also offers capris and a 21 inch crop.

PRO: the most compressive and aero, with the most advanced chamois.

Pi PRO/BLACK: our pinnacle bib, over 20% lighter than the PRO Bib Shorts, with a droptail upper.

Fit & Sizing

Expect close, even compression with hems that don't creep when the watts go up. Bib straps should lie flat without dig; short waistbands should stay put without pinch. Between sizes? Use our Size & Fit Guide to lock your fit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about PEARL iZUMi products.

  • Bibs remove waistband pressure and hold the chamois in place for all-day comfort, which many riders prefer for long rides. Regular shorts and skorts are easier for quick changes, commuting, and indoor sessions. It comes down to ride length and personal preference.

  • Many women's bibs are designed for it, using halter-style, drop-tail, or detachable-strap systems that let you pull the shorts down without taking off your jersey. If easy bathroom stops matter to you, look for bibs described as having a relief, drop-tail, or convertible design.

  • The chamois is the padding sewn into cycling shorts that cushions sit-bone pressure and reduces friction, and women's-specific pads are shaped for women's anatomy. Choose by ride length: SELECT Levitate™ for everyday rides, ELITE Levitate™ dual-density for high-mileage training, and PRO Levitate™ triple-density for race pace and endurance. Our Chamois Guide walks through it.

  • No. Cycling shorts are designed to be worn directly against the skin; the chamois does the cushioning and moisture-wicking, and underwear adds seams that cause chafing and traps sweat.

  • A skort pairs a skirt outer with a built-in padded liner, so you get the coverage and look of a skirt with real on-bike chamois comfort. They're popular for commuting, casual rides, and stops off the bike. Ours sit in the Sugar line.

  • Snug with even compression, no bunching at the leg, and hems that stay put without digging in or riding up. Bib straps should lie flat without pulling at the shoulders. See our Size & Fit Guide if you're between sizes.

  • Wash cold on a gentle cycle, skip fabric softener since it breaks down the chamois and the stretch, and air-dry. Wash them after every ride and don't leave them sitting damp, which protects both the pad and your skin.
