ELITE Levitate Chamois

The high-mileage middle of the platform. ELITE Levitate™ is a dual-density chamois built for riders logging serious volume: firm enough to stay stable under sustained effort, forgiving enough to stay comfortable hour after hour, with stretch and breathability that hold up when the intensity climbs.

Why ELITE Levitate™

Dual-density construction: two foam densities placed to stabilize the sit bones while keeping give where pressure builds.

Abrasion control: tuned to minimize skin abrasion and sit-bone discomfort across long, repeated efforts.

Stretch that keeps up: retains flexibility and breathability at high intensity rather than stiffening under load.

Where It Sits in the Range

ELITE Levitate™ is the middle of a three-tier ladder: SELECT for everyday comfort, ELITE for high-mileage training, and PRO for race and endurance days. PRO steps up to triple-density foam and a refined top sheet; SELECT trades some refinement for value and everyday ease. Compare all three on the parent Levitate™ Chamois page.

Which Lines Use ELITE Levitate™

Attack: shorts, bib shorts, Air shorts and bibs, 3/4 bib tights, and cycling tights.

Expedition: shorts, bib shorts, and thermal bib tights for long-distance and adventure riding.

AmFIB®: AmFIB® and AmFIB® Lite bib tights and tights for cold and wet conditions.

Thermal bottoms: thermal tights, bib tights, 3/4 bib tights, and cargo bib tights.

Liner shorts: Transfer cargo liner shorts and Summit shorts with liner.

Bibs or Shorts

Both carry the same pad. Bibs remove waistband pressure and keep the chamois centered through long efforts, which matters more the longer you ride. Shorts are simpler for quick changes and indoor sessions. Browse shorts & bib shorts or the wider padded shorts range, and use the Shorts & Bibs Guide to decide.

Fit and Care

A chamois only works if the garment holds it in place, so bibs and shorts should fit close with even compression, straps lying flat and hems that do not creep. Use the Size & Fit Guide to size, and the Chamois Guide to match density to the rides you actually do. Wash cold, skip fabric softener, and air-dry to keep the foam resilient.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about PEARL iZUMi products.

  • It is the middle tier of our Levitate™ chamois platform: a dual-density pad that stabilizes the sit bones while keeping give where pressure builds. It is designed for high-mileage training, where the priority is staying comfortable across repeated long efforts rather than peaking for a single race.

  • The tiers step up support and refinement. SELECT covers everyday comfort and value. ELITE is dual-density for high-mileage training. PRO is triple-density with a super-smooth top sheet and seamless edge transitions for race pace and all-day endurance. All three share the same shaping approach and gender-specific construction.

  • It means the pad uses two different foam firmnesses in different zones rather than a single uniform density. Firmer foam sits where you need stability and support under the sit bones; softer foam sits where pressure and movement would otherwise cause friction. The result is support that does not turn into a hard spot over hours in the saddle.

  • You will find it across Attack shorts and bibs including the Air versions, Expedition shorts and bibs, AmFIB® and AmFIB® Lite bib tights, thermal tights and bib tights, and Transfer cargo liner shorts. It spans both men's and women's, in warm and cold-weather bottoms.

  • Yes, that is what it is tuned for. Dual-density support and abrasion control are aimed squarely at high-volume riding and multi-hour days. If you regularly race or ride very long endurance events and want the most refined pad available, PRO Levitate™ is the step up.

  • No. A chamois is designed to sit directly against skin, and adding underwear introduces seams and traps moisture, which is exactly what causes chafing. This applies at every tier of the Levitate platform.

  • Rinse or wash after every ride, use cold water on a gentle cycle, and skip fabric softener, which coats the foam and top sheet and dulls moisture movement. Air-dry rather than tumble-dry to preserve the foam's resilience and the garment's compression.
