When humid, damp, or wet conditions are looming, staying dry is a priority. Start with a season-appropriate kit, picking the proper base layers when temperatures start to drop. If it is drizzling or not yet raining, opt for a lightweight, quick-drying layer that you can easily store. For heavier rain, choose a high-quality jacket, like one from our WxB® collection.

Our wet weather system includes barrier fabrics that act as a shield between you and the rain. These fabrics are breathable, helping regulate your internal temperature, and use durable water repellent (DWR) technology to shed water droplets and dry quickly.

WxB® fabrics offer waterproof protection from the elements. Taped seams act as a watertight seal, and breathable fabrics are combined with DWR technology to help repel rain. The result is an ultra-strong membrane that keeps you from getting soggy.
PI DRY® MAINTAINS COMFORT AT EVERY LEVEL.
PI Dry® reinforces our knit and woven fabrics with water-repellent properties at the fiber level. This technology stays dry and lightweight even when faced with snow and rain, and it is highly durable, lasting over 100 washes in our tests.

Wet Weather Cycling FAQ
What should I wear cycling in the rain?
Start with a wicking base layer, add a season-appropriate kit, then choose your shell by how hard it is raining. A light, packable water-repellent layer handles drizzle and road spray. A seam-sealed WxB® jacket handles sustained rain. Finish with waterproof gloves and shoe covers, since extremities get wet first.
What is the difference between water-repellent and waterproof?
Water-repellent fabrics like PI Dry® shed light rain and spray, and breathe well enough for hard efforts. Waterproof garments block sustained rain entirely, using taped seams and a membrane. Water-repellent is the better choice for most rides; waterproof is what you want when it is raining the whole time.
How long does PI Dry® last?
PI Dry® is applied at the fiber level rather than as a surface coating, and lasted over 100 washes in our testing. Skip fabric softener, which coats fibers and reduces repellency, and refresh with a wash-in or spray-on DWR treatment when water stops beading.
How do I keep my feet dry?
Shoe covers are the single most effective thing you can add, because water runs down your legs into your shoes. Pair them with Merino or synthetic socks rather than cotton, which holds water against your skin once it gets through.
