Rain-or-shine riders know the secret: the right gear changes everything. Pearl izumi's men's waterproof cycling gear is built for the rider who checks the radar, shrugs, and clips in anyway. A fully seam-sealed men's waterproof jacket with breathable membrane is engineered to keep you dry, comfortable, and moving, no matter what the clouds have planned.
When rain hits, you need a dedicated men’s waterproof cycling jacket, not a wind shell that might hold up for a few miles. PEARL iZUMi’s wet-weather jackets are built around real waterproof construction, meaning fully seam-sealed fabrics, water-resistant zippers, and drop-tail hems that block road spray where it matters most.
The Quest WxB Rain Jacket is the workhorse of the collection. It’s built from a lightweight 2.5-layer ripstop fabric with 10k waterproof and 5k breathability ratings, so it blocks rain without trapping heat on climbs. The PI Dry® C0 finish is PFAS-free, adding an extra layer of water repellency without the environmental baggage. A two-way water-resistant zipper lets you vent from the bottom mid-ride and access your jersey pockets without fully opening up — a small detail that makes a big difference in steady rain.
For cold, wet conditions where you need more than just rain protection, the Attack AmFIB® Lite Jacket covers both bases. Windproof, water-resistant AmFIB® thermal softshell fabric protects the chest and leading arm panels against headwinds and rain, while thermal fleece on the back dumps heat during hard efforts. It’s the jacket for those shoulder-season days when you’re not sure what you’ll ride into.
Rain gear is only as good as the technology behind it. Here’s what separates PEARL iZUMi’s wet-weather collection from a generic rain shell, and why it matters on the bike.
PI Dry® isn’t a coating applied on top of the fabric; it’s a hydrophobic treatment applied at the fiber level before the fabric is even woven. That means water beads and rolls off instead of saturating the surface, and the treatment is built to last the life of the garment, not just a season. Newer versions, like the C0 formula used in the Quest WxB, are also PFAS-free.
The WxB (Wet-weather Barrier) membrane is PEARL iZUMi’s dedicated rain fabric. The outer layer carries the DWR finish to repel surface water, while the breathable waterproof middle layer blocks moisture from getting in and lets sweat vapor escape. It’s not a stiff, crinkly rain shell; it’s a performance fabric you can ride hard in.
AmFIB® is PEARL iZUMi’s cold-and-wet fabric technology. The thermal fleece interior provides warmth, while the weather-resistant exterior blocks wind and sheds water. Designed for winter or cool-wet conditions, it emphasizes breathable insulation so you can minimize layering adjustments. Note that AmFIB® is highly water-resistant but not fully waterproof; for sustained heavy rain, the WxB membrane is the better choice.
Getting your system right matters. Here’s a quick framework:
Cool and wet (45–60°F): A rain jacket over a lightweight baselayer is usually enough. Vent on climbs.
Cold and wet (30–45°F): Add a thermal jersey or heavyweight base under your rain jacket. AmFIB® tights replace standard bib tights.
Wet regardless of temp: Always add waterproof shoe covers and consider rain-specific gloves. Wet feet and hands are what end rides early.

Yes, the Quest WxB Rain Jacket features a two-way water-resistant zipper that you can open from the bottom, allowing you to reach your jersey pockets underneath without fully unzipping in the rain. It's a practical detail that matters on long rides where you need to access food or your phone without getting soaked.
With PI Dry® technology, the hydrophobic treatment is embedded at the fiber level, so it's more wash-durable than surface-applied DWR coatings. That said, fabric softeners and detergents with additives can leave surfactants behind that interfere with water repellency. PEARL iZUMi recommends washing with a simple, additive-free detergent, something with "Clear" or "Free" in the name, and skipping the fabric softener entirely.
PEARL iZUMi has made meaningful moves here. The PI Dry® C0 treatment used in the Quest WxB Rain Jacket is PFAS-free, which is a significant shift from traditional fluorinated DWR formulas that have raised environmental concerns. PEARL iZUMi also backs all of its products with a lifetime warranty, which means less gear ends up in a landfill. It's a practical form of sustainability that matters for riders who want gear built to last.
