Upper: 65% rubber plastic, 35% textile | Bottom: 56% rubber, 42% nylon plastic, 2% steel
SHOE CARE AND MAINTENANCE: Clean mud off with a damp sponge and then stuff the inside of the shoes with paper to help absorb moisture and maintain shape. Never clean shoes in a washing machine. Keep the outsole clean by scrubbing with a soft brush when needed. Air dry at room temperature. Do not dry the shoes by a fire, radiator or other heat source. Do not leave them in your car on a hot day. Extreme, direct heat can cause the materials to dry out or crack. This will damage your shoes and void your warranty.

Almost perfect shoes!
"I absolutely love these shoes! This is my first time having shoes with the BOA system and so far they work well. I made the mistake of trying a different brand that were not nearly as comfortable. My only complaint is the mounting bracket for the cleats. The bracket sits very deep from the sole and the threads are extremely short. Attaching the cleats was not easy and I was nervous that it would not work. Fortunately I was able to add the cleats and they work fine. Besides the bracket, I would like to see a small reflective accent on the back of the shoes for safety, otherwise these are awesome."

"I have two other pair of this shoe which lead me to purchasing this pair. Only one short ride in but these are as appreciated as the other two pair. Fit is excellent as are the comfort and performance levels. Thank you! I ride Road, Mtn, & Gravel and these shoes work very well as a gravel shoe. They also work as a cross country shoe too!"

"I use them for MTB and BMX (mostly), durable, very confortable, fit well, adjust well, light built, responsive when twisting to unclip And the best is that the way the soil shape and material adapt to any terrain or surface when walking. I hope these don't get this continued, I own two pairs and still have one in the box because the first one still in very good shape. I couldn't get a third, not available."

"I ordered these in a size I thought would work. It didn’t. And PI was unable to offer me any solution. My bad for not realizing how strict the return policy would be. PI’s bad for not offering me anything for that decision— a coupon towards my next purchase would have gone a long way towards making me feel better."

"I was looking for an entry level clipless shoe for my new gravel bike and to experiment with clipless on my MTB. The X-Alp Mesa Shoe fits perfectly. I ordered a 1/2 size up just to get a little more toe room. I have normal width, (D). I normally wear a 10. 0, the 10. 5 offered plenty of room up front and may not ne necessary if you like a more snug fit. I've only ridden twice with them, so far so good!"

Excellent shoe
"Excellent quality of materials and workmanship on this shoe. Took them out for a technical trail ride this August 2026. Tough construction but still flexible enough to walk. Light and breathable construction provides excellent warm/hot weather performance. The clip mounting plate underfoot secures the hardware perfectly. The BOA system works very well, but I have to withhold final judgement for another year to see how the cable lace and adjustment dial hold up over time. I normally wear a size 9, but sized up to a 91/2 to accommodate my slightly-larger-than-D width and bunion on my big toe. Overall, two thumbs up for the X-Alp Mesa shoe."
