Thermal Cycling Bibs & Tights

Winter Cycling Tights and Thermal Bib Tights

Cold legs end more winter rides than anything else, and the right thermal bib tights keep you riding through the months when most riders stay indoors. This collection covers men's and women's thermal cycling bib tights, padded and unpadded tights, 3/4 bibs, thermal bib shorts, and insulated mountain bike pants, from midweight layers for crisp mornings to windproof AmFIB® pieces for the coldest days. Shop men's cycling tights and women's cycling tights.

Should you choose bib tights or tights?

Bib tights use shoulder straps instead of a waistband, so they hold the chamois in place and leave no gap at the waist on cold descents. Most riders prefer them for long winter rides. Waist tights are quicker to pull on and off, which suits shorter rides and commuting.

Padded or unpadded thermal tights?

Padded tights and bib tights have a chamois built in, so one piece covers the whole ride. Unpadded tights, such as the Men's Thermal Tights, Men's AmFIB® Tights, and Women's Quest Thermal Tights, are made to layer over the bib shorts you already own, and they also work off the bike for winter hiking or cross-country skiing. The Chamois Guide explains the chamois tiers.

How warm are thermal cycling tights?

It depends on the fabric. Quest thermal pieces use midweight SELECT ThermaFleece for cool rides. Thermal tights and bib tights step up to ELITE ThermaFleece with a PI Dry® finish that sheds road spray. AmFIB® Lite bib tights add windproof softshell panels on the front thighs and knees, and full AmFIB® tights and bib tights wrap more of the leg in windproof softshell for the coldest, windiest days.

What should you wear when tights are too much?

For cool shoulder-season rides, 3/4 bib tights cover the knees and leave the lower leg free, and thermal bib shorts pair with knee or leg warmers that come off as the day warms up. Women's Thermal 21" Cargo Bib Tights add a drop-tail and pockets.

Thermal tights and pants for gravel and mountain biking

For long gravel days, the Men's Expedition Thermal Cycling Bib Tights add a drop-tail and two side cargo pockets. For cold trail riding, Summit AmFIB® Lite Pants pair windproof softshell with a brushed thermal interior and fit over knee pads. Browse men's mountain bike pants and women's mountain bike pants.
