Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about PEARL iZUMi products.

  • A core kit is a breathable jersey, padded shorts or bib shorts worn without underwear, gloves, and stiff-soled shoes matched to your pedals. Add a base layer and a packable weather layer as you ride more.

  • Match the gear to the terrain: road apparel is aero and low-bulk, gravel gear adds durability and storage for long mixed-surface days, and mountain bike gear prioritizes protection and mobility on technical trails. If you ride more than one, gravel gear is the most versatile starting point.

  • They are performance tiers, and the chamois steps up with them. Quest is the value-focused everyday line with the SELECT Levitate™ chamois. Attack is the performance mid-tier with the dual-density ELITE Levitate™. PRO is the race-level top tier with triple-density PRO Levitate™ and the most advanced fabrics. Above that, Pi PRO/BLACK is our pinnacle road system. All share the same core construction quality.

  • Race fits are second-skin and aero for speed, performance fits stay close for training, and classic fits leave a touch more room for comfort. Pick by how aggressively you ride. Our Size & Fit Guide shows the differences.

  • Bibs remove waistband pressure and keep the chamois centered for long efforts; shorts are easier for quick changes and shorter rides. Many riders prefer bibs for distance. See our Shorts & Bibs Guide and the Chamois Guide.

  • Layer a base layer under a jersey, add thermal tights and insulation for cold, and top with a windproof or seam-sealed shell from Men's Wet Weather, venting on climbs to manage sweat. The Winter Layering Guide covers the order.

  • Men's cycling apparel uses men's-specific cuts through the shoulders, torso, and legs, and men's-shaped chamois pads, for a better fit and ride comfort rather than simply different sizing.
