The Men's Transfer Wool Long Sleeve Baselayer is the foundation piece every cold-weather rider needs. Made with a lightweight 150g drirelease® Merino blend, it combines the natural insulating and odor-resistant properties of Merino wool with the durability and moisture-wicking speed of synthetics. The result is a push-pull effect that draws sweat away while trapping warmth close to the body, keeping you dry and comfortable through dynamic winter efforts.

Softer than cotton and cut in a form-fit design, this baselayer eliminates bulk under layers while offering high stretch for total mobility. A longer rear hem provides coverage in the riding position, while tight underarm construction reduces bunching when layered. External fabric tags remove irritation against skin.

Made with recycled content, this is the baselayer that sets the tone for every winter ride. Pair it under outerwear from our Men's Jackets & Vests collection or match with Men's Tights & Bibs for a complete layering system.

FAQs

The Men's Transfer Wool Long Sleeve Baselayer is a men's merino cycling base layer built as the foundation of a cold-weather kit.

  • Why merino for a cycling base layer?
Merino insulates naturally and resists odor. Blended with synthetics in drirelease® fabric, it also gains durability and faster moisture movement, so it draws sweat away while holding warmth close.

  • How warm is it?
It's a lightweight 150 g blend, built to layer under a jersey and jacket rather than replace them.

  • How should it fit?
Form fit, close to the skin so it can move sweat, with tight underarm construction that won't bunch under layers. See the Size & Fit Guide for sizing.

  • Will it ride up when I'm on the bike?
No. A longer rear hem keeps you covered in the riding position.

  • What is it made of?
83% recycled polyester, 11% merino wool, and 6% spandex. External fabric tags keep seams off the skin.

  • Is there a women's version?
Yes, the Women's Transfer Wool Long Sleeve Baselayer.

Reviews

Bigger cyclist that wanted an extra later for colder rides.

"Perfixt fit and very versatile."

Fits perfect and provides comfort

"While this may not provide enough warmth in the winter, it's perfect for crisp Spring and Fall rides. I'm in the PNW and this is just perfect for our weather. I wear a L - Size and fit is true."

— Matt B. (5/5)

Too expensive

"Awesome item way too much money"

— Felipe O. (5/5)

Have the old model more wooly

"I have an older transfer baselayer that is 41% wool & it’s very useful. Lots of issues here voiced about fit but these are made to be skin tight so expect that. Probably it could be longer to be real about it, but i can’t regret buying in when the fabric’s content was woolier, & it’s an automatic shoo-in on any bike trips here in the NE, where even in summer it can get a bit on the chilly side overnight especially once you hit the mountains. Useful kit when it is used in necessary conditions & always useful to add warmth in cold temp rides."

— Abraham (3/5)

Too thin and low wool content

"The shirt fits more loosely than other base layers I own. I would not call this a winter base layer, as it’s very thin, and I questioned how much warmth it would provide. The lower price attracted me, but I guess you get what you pay for. As one reviewer mentioned, the wool content is low - 11% (compared to 35% wool on a different brand I own). I purchased two of these and returned both of them."

— Mike H. (3/5)

Run very small

"Wish I could use this. While I am ok with snug for a base layer, this is just too small. Really disappointed that I'll need to send this one back as the materials feels really good against your skin. I wish the sizing would be more accurate on the website -- not the first time I've run into this issue on Pearl iZUMi products."

— Steven P. (5/5)

great stle and comfort

"Very comfortable on cooler rides. A good quality, cooler-weather shirt."

— Todd A. (5/5)

comfortable but a bit short

"Nice and stretchy and provides a nice wicking layer but the transfer jersey is a bit short in the back. I ordered medium and am 165lb 5’9”. Overall I am going to keep it but wish it was longer in the back."

— Bruce D. (4/5)

CHEAP SMALL ITEMS

"WAY TOO SMALL. Ordered a large and it is smaller than a medium. I will not be ordering from you again"

— Paul M. (1/5)

Thermal Jersey is Great

"Perfect for 50-55° F"

— Mark G. (5/5)
