Men's Quest Barrier Convertible Jacket
Men's Quest Barrier Convertible Jacket
When conditions shift mid-ride, the Men's Quest Barrier Convertible Jacket gives you two layers in one smart, packable piece. Designed for riders who want maximum versatility, this jacket easily converts into a vest, making it a go-to for unpredictable weather, commuting, and early or late-season rides.
Made from lightweight, windproof fabric with PI Dry® water-shedding technology, it shrugs off light rain and road spray to keep you dry when conditions take a turn. The zip-off sleeves transform it into a vest in seconds, offering adaptability as the day warms up or the clouds roll in. The two-way front zipper allows for on-the-fly ventilation from the top or bottom, while the rear zippered pocket doubles as a stuff sack for easy storage on the bike or in a bag.
Subtle reflective details boost low-light visibility, and the classic fit layers easily over a jersey or thermal top for added insulation and flexibility.
Pair it with our Quest Thermal Jersey for all-conditions comfort, or explore more men's cycling jackets to complete your ride-ready layering system.

USE SIMPLE DETERGENTS WITH NO ADDITIVES Never use detergents with fabric softeners, perfumes or any additive type product. The general rule of thumb is the simpler the better. Many detergents with additives leave "surfactants" behind on a fabric's fibers that inhibit the technical performance. Typically the best detergents to use will have "Clear" or "Free" in their names. Don't pour the detergent directly onto the clothing, put it in the washer first, when you start the water. If something is not functionally working, but is not dirty, try rinsing it twice in warm to hot water. This will help get rid of the harmful surfactants. READ THE CONTENT CARE LABEL: On the inside of your garment, or on the hangcard, there are instructions for the care of that individual piece. On garments this will be on a side seam or back seam label. Follow those directions. On finer fabrics, use a "Gentle" cycle. Close all zippers, attach "hook and loop" closures on gloves YOU CAN USE THE DRYER, CAREFULLY: If you use a dryer be sure to use a lower / warm heat setting (Do NOT use a commercial dryer or a "Hot" setting). This will often restore the fabric and help the water and wind repellent qualities. If in doubt, hang the clothing to dry.
FAQs
The Men's Quest Barrier Convertible Jacket is a men's cycling jacket that converts to a vest, built for changing weather, commutes, and shoulder-season rides.
- How does the convertible design work?
The sleeves zip off, turning the jacket into a vest in seconds, so you keep core wind protection when a cold start turns into a warm ride. - Is it waterproof?
It's windproof and water-resistant. PI Dry® technology sheds light rain and road spray; for sustained rain, a fully waterproof shell is the better tool. - How does it pack down?
The rear zippered pocket doubles as a stuff sack, so the whole jacket packs into it for storage on the bike or in a bag. - How do I vent it?
A two-way front zipper opens from the top or bottom, which lets you dump heat and reach jersey pockets underneath. - How does it fit?
Classic fit, with room to layer over a jersey or a thermal top. See the Size & Fit Guide to find your size. - Is there a women's version?
Yes, the Women's Quest Barrier Convertible Jacket, which uses snap-off sleeves. - What should I wear with it?
Pair it with the Men's Quest Thermal Jersey for cooler days.

Very happy with this jacket.
"Very happy with this jacket. It’s very light and works well as a wind breaker . I bought it on the large side so that I can layer underneath it as the weather gets colder. Good number of storage pockets and the zippers seem to be of good quality . Overall a good cycling jacket"
Good jacket with one flaw
"Overall it’s a good cycling jacket. It’s windproof in the main body portion while wind resistant in the sleeves. This keeps you warm and permits good cooling. My largest complaint is the cuffs. They are too tight. It’s the only shell I’ve purchased that cannot be removed over cycling cloves. You must remove your gloves to remove this jacket. Also I have to scrunch my hand together, fold in the thumb and fingers, to remove the jacket- which isn’t comfortable. A Velcro closure on the cuffs would be far better."
Very tight sleeve at wrist opening
"Is there a trick to taking off this jacket, the sleeve opening is so small I have to struggle each time to get my fist through/out. Can't imagine if I need to remove the jacket for medical emergency. Please tell what is the proper way to get hand/fist out of this tiny sleeve opening. I read that other buyers shares the same issue. I bought the jacket as a final sale, no returns, otherwise I would have returned it on day one. Other than issue with sleeve opening Jacket fits well, material is good. Very nice as a windbreaker so far, have not try it out in the rain yet."
I love it!
"The jacket was perfect for my weeklong ride through Normandy and Brittany, France. Mixed weather. The wind protection worked perfectly and kept me warm and snug, without any buildup of heat and sweat."
This is the most versatile,
"This is the most versatile, good quality bicycle garment I have ever owned. I bought a new one recently, just in case they stop manufacturing it. Highly recommended."
nice jacket
"i would like a hood, to go over helmet"
Perfect Gift
"This was a gift for my father who absolutely loves it. He found the convertible piece being one instead of two much more convenient for his needs. As a side note, customer service is stellar. I’ve never shopped with PI before but after my experience I will definitely be back!"
Sleeves too tight to get over hands
"Purchased a size L based on chest, waist & hips. Elastic at wrists is so tight that I cannot get it over my hands [glove size XL/XXL] without a lot of difficulty. Jacket rides up while wearing on a ride, cut is small based on my 42” chest. Will return and see if the XL has a larger opening at the wrist to get over my hands."
Nice wind jacket
"This is a big improve to the less expensive version - which I liked, but doesn’t have pockets. I like the zip-off sleeves!"
Great windbreaker
"Jacket fit was good - XL size for 225 lbs - and functions as advertised with conversion to vest. The fabric weave density really stops the wind and the 2 way zipper is very convenient."
