Cycling Gear with Waterproof Technology

Waterproof Cycling Jackets & Gear: Seam-Sealed WxB

Total protection when the rain sets in. Our waterproof cycling jackets and gear use a waterproof membrane, fully taped seams, and water-shedding zips to keep rain and wheel spray out in sustained downpours. On our gear this is labeled WxB: waterproof, and still breathable during hard efforts.

What WxB Means

WxB is our waterproof, breathable designation. The fabric blocks rain from the outside while letting sweat vapor escape from the inside, so you stay dry from the weather and from your own effort. Pair a shell with a wicking base layer and vent the zips on climbs to manage moisture from both sides.

Waterproof vs Water-Resistant

Fully waterproof, seam-sealed gear is built for sustained heavy rain, while water-resistant gear only sheds light rain and spray. If you regularly ride in real rain, choose waterproof; if it's the occasional shower, water-resistant is lighter and breathes more.

Seal the Extremities

A seam-sealed jacket is the priority, then add waterproof pants, shoe covers, and wet-ready gloves for long rainy rides. For the full head-to-toe rain approach and safety tips, see Wet Weather.

  • A seam-sealed jacket is the priority. For long, wet rides, add waterproof pants, shoe covers, and gloves that work wet to seal the extremities and keep you comfortable.

  • Close enough to layer over a jersey without flapping, with sleeves that cover your reach to the bars and a drop tail to block wheel spray. Use our Size & Fit Guide if you're between sizes.

  • Wash cold, skip fabric softener, and reactivate the DWR with low heat so water keeps beading on the surface. A wetted-out face fabric feels clammy even when the membrane is still keeping you dry.
