Own the trails with confidence in the Men's Summit Shell Shorts, designed to deliver lightweight durability and stretch where it counts. These men's MTB shorts feature a breathable, four-way stretch shell with a durable water-repellent finish to shed light moisture from stream crossings and trail spray.

With a full-purpose 13" inseam, these shorts provide added coverage and seamless compatibility with knee protection. A micro-adjust ratchet waist closure allows for a snug, customized fit without bulk, and dual zippered Trail Access™ pockets keep essentials secure and out of your pedaling zone. The result is streamlined performance and confident comfort on even the toughest missions.

The construction features PI Dry® C0 technology, a PFAS-free durable water repellent that keeps you dry while keeping sustainability in mind. Made from recycled fibers with bonded hems and a pedal-friendly leg design, these shorts are built to be both practical and environmentally conscious.

Designed without a chamois pad, the Summit Shell Shorts pair easily with your favorite liner or bib, providing kit flexibility for every ride. With BioViz™ reflective elements for low-light visibility and recycled fabric content, these are built for serious trail days.

Pair them with Men's Transfer Liner Shorts and a mountain bike jersey for a full technical trail kit that's built to go anywhere.

Reviews

The shorts are quite comfortable

"The shorts are quite comfortable with ample pockets. The closure system is unique and functions well."

— Frank M. (5/5)

Looks great, fits great, feels great, durability issues

"Same issue as with the jersey: look and feel is amazing but there are already little pulls/runs in the fabric after 5-6 rides. No falls and very light brushes with vegetation along the trail. Hopefully they hold up."

— Nathan R. (3/5)

Very lightweight & comfortable

"Super lightweight material. Really nice without the stupid zipper. Very good closure system. Way better than other iterations of this short!"

— Sean M. (5/5)

my go to. love the new longer length

"My go to trail short. Just the right amount of stretch. Perfect length just covers the knee on those sunny days. Extremely breathable, look great for the after ride beer and feel like all day comfort with a super soft shell like feel with zero noise when pedaling. These are true to size unlike some other brands where I always have to size up."

— christian n. (5/5)

Nice shorts, but needs a proper fly

"My wife remarked that the shorts look like the fly is open. I told her there is no fly -- it just has a flap of fabric that doesn't lay flat. The shorts need either a zipper or maybe velcro fly to keep that fabric flap laying flat so that it looks closed up."

— Maynard J. (4/5)

Wrong fit for me.

"Too big, long and baggy, but maybe I'm just an old man. I'm in-between 32 and 34 but in a technical sport fit matters a lot. That said, I love my Pearl Izumi products and will continue to buy more. I ride both road and mountain."

— Brian W. (1/5)

Pretty Darn Good!

"I wanted to get some “shorts” to ride in. These fit the bill! Coupled with the minimalist padded liners I use these on the MTB trails regularly. Off the trails without the liner I wear these around as regular shorts. I am at the low end of the waist range for Medium so these are just a touch loose, but not uncomfortably so. I would recommend them and have to friends."

— Christopher H. (5/5)

Roomy and stylish

"Great fit and look. Quality that is always expected with Pearl Izumi."

— Maegan R. (5/5)

Good product. MTB short is

"Good product. MTB short is the best cycling material I have ever worn. The fit was too big for me in the waist as a XL short. I returned it for a large short size."

— Edward R. (5/5)

Lacks durability, strange pocket design

"Lightweight and good fit, love the moto closure. However, incredibly delicate. Tore them on the second ride by brushing up against a pedal while offloading my bike. Can’t say the “suicide door” pocket design/location is a good one, as your phone will continuously slap your leg on a ride."
