How should cycling shorts fit?

Close and supportive—no sag, no pinch. They should feel compressive standing up and perfect once you’re in the riding position. If fabric wrinkles or the chamois shifts, size down; if leg grippers bite or straps feel restrictive, size up.

How tight is “too tight”?

If you see overstretched fabric, feel restricted breathing, or the leg openings leave deep marks, that’s too tight. You’re aiming for “second skin,” not tourniquet.

Are bib straps supposed to feel snug?

Snug, not pulling. In riding position the straps should lie flat without pressure on shoulders or chest. If they bow or dig, check torso length options or size.

Do I wear underwear with cycling shorts?

No. Underwear causes seams and friction. The short’s built-in chamois is designed to be next to skin.

How do I know the chamois is positioned right?

Center the pad under your sit bones. In the saddle, you shouldn’t feel edges, folds, or seams. If you’re hovering on the front or the pad drifts, reassess size or rise (bibs usually solve this).

For Trail, go liner + shell. The liner keeps the pad where it belongs; the shell adds durability, pockets, and protection without snagging the saddle.

Cold wash, gentle cycle. Skip fabric softeners and bleach—they break down performance fibers and the chamois. Hang dry only; heat shortens the life of elastane and adhesives.
