Cycling Jackets & Vests
Headwinds, descents, pop-up storms—handled. Our cycling jackets and cycling vests balance windproof protection, waterproof performance, and real breathability you can ride hard in. Packable when you don’t need them. Essential when you do.
Choose Your Outer Layer
Wind jacket: ultralight barrier for early starts and long descents; vents fast and stashes small.
Vest (gilet): core warmth without bulk—blocks wind up front, dumps heat out back.
Rain jacket: fully seam-sealed waterproof cycling jacket with breathable membranes for tempo efforts—see Wet Weather.
Thermal / softshell: insulated warmth that still breathes; pair with baselayers in deep season.
Layer Like a System
Base: start with moisture-moving cycling baselayers matched to effort and climate.
Mid: add a short- or long-sleeve jersey for steady warmth and storage.
Lower: when temps drop, run tights & bib tights; finish the seal with shoe covers and road gloves.
Quick Temperature & Conditions Guide
75°F+ (24°C+): vest only for long descents or sudden breeze.
60–75°F (16–24°C): breathable wind vest or ultralight jacket.
45–60°F (7–16°C): wind jacket + thermal jersey; add knee/leg coverage.
30–45°F (-1–7°C): softshell or insulated jacket; pair with thermal tights.
Below 30°F (-1°C): insulated outer + heavy thermal base; seal with warm socks and covers.
Wet or windy? Bump up one level and vent on climbs to manage inside/out moisture.
Fit & Sizing — Dial It In
Jackets and vests should skim the body so layers work as one; sleeves cover the reach, hems stay put in the drops, and collars seal the chill. Use our Size & Fit Guide to lock your size.
FAQ
Windproof vs. waterproof—what do I need?
Wind shells kill chill and pack small; waterproof shells add seam-sealed rain protection. If you ride through storms or spray, go waterproof. For cool, dry days, a wind jacket or vest is usually enough.
Vest or jacket for shoulder season?
Start with a vest for core warmth and add arm warmers; step up to a wind or rain jacket when temps fall or weather turns.
Do rain jackets breathe well enough to train in?
Modern membranes balance sweat management with storm protection—crack vents on climbs and close for descents.
Road, gravel, or trail—are these pieces discipline-specific?
Road/gravel pieces run low-flap and packable; for trail and packs, see MTB-tuned shells below.
